Love the Pleats!

Now, aren't these two a cute couple.  They are merely rehearsing, but both are impeccably dressed, with matching outfits ... and the pleats in those pants, wow.  Almost perfect ... but, Bob's collar is turned up in back!  Just scandalous.  I think there's a valet about to lose his job.

Have you ever noticed how extremely small Janet Gaynor was?  Her bio lists her at 5' even.  I'm guessing she was even shorter.  Norma Shearer claimed to be 5' 1", Crawford 5' 3".  As this picture shows, it is difficult to frame a shot when the parties are of considerably different heights.  So, did Bob's leading ladies stand on boxes or did Bob walk in ditches?

Fan of Bob but heard this broadcast and thought he was miscast somehow. Great picture though!

Hey, Anon!

Always good to hear from another Bob fan. Glad you liked the picture.

Haven't listed to the show in ages, will have to do so since you peaked my interest. I will be the first to admit that I have a biased view of all things Bob, always seeing the good in his performances, just enjoying him no matter the role or horrid movie he may be in. And I try not to typecast him, as the studio certainly did, but Bob as an alcoholic has-been supporting a career hungry starlet? That is so not Bob, a real stretch. Which leads me to critique myself. If I review his roles by what kind of man I think he was, than I would have to accept that part of Bob really was to some extent a crazed psychopath. Hmmmm...

We both know I'm nuts for Danny, but the only part of him in Bob was the uber charm. That was the shared characteristic. The rest of it was pure talent! (We both know that too!)

Oh, I guess you're right. "Uber charm" ... Love it!
