Another more recently acquired heartthrob of mine, Richard Arlen. My, but he was a gorgeous young man.
Tom Selleck, Richard Arlen ... beginning to feel a little slutty. Sorry, Bob.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
Robert Montgomery, popular MGM star, snapped on his arrival in New York with Mrs. Montgomery. Mr. Montgomery last appeared in "Another Language" ...
Bob and Betty arrive in New York (July, 1933)
Bob liked his wives short. Not sure of the exact height of either of the Elizabeth's, but no taller than 5'2" either of them, guessing 5 even for Betty. Notice how she has had to reach up to hold his arm.
I have been a Tom Selleck fan since the 1970s. A real hunk of a guy. Not exactly a Montgomery type, but the man makes me smile. That's what counts, right?! Maybe it's the mustache.
Bob died Sept., 1981, he is going on 76 when he gave this interview. Excellent interview, the interviewer just lets him chat on.
The artist's signature is Sotero. Haven't discovered anything about him/her, except that I did run across drawings of William Powell and Joan Crawford by the same artist. So, it was probably a promotional campaign of MGM's. Joan's is dated 1938. I so admire the ability to capture a likeness with so few strokes. The rather faint tuxedo collar and tie, Bob's furrowed brow ... nifty.
Okay. There are two photos of Bob in his "real" dress uniforms, and three in movie produced uniforms. I consider the pilot uniform to fall under the 'dress' uniform heading, it has a mink collar after all! So which would turn you on the most?
Hard to choose, isn't it!

Bob as Lt. Henry Montgomery, Jr., USNR, on the way to Panama for further PT Boat training.
Such a gorgeous still ... the lighting, the mood, the subject.
The subject ... just beautiful. I just LOVE ROBERT MONTGOMERY!***
*** I was inspired by Debbie's comment about William Powell, two posts back. Didn't want Bob to feel underappreciated.
