Need a Copy of the Earl?

Just a FYI, Free Movies on DVD recently added The Earl of Chicago (1940) to its catalog.

Also, this gives me an excuse to post a photo:

Can you tell me more about what this one's about? The picture is intriguing!

I've been sort of enjoying savoring knowing I still have LETTY LYNTON ahead of me to watch for the first time...I think the time is coming to watch it soon! :) My dad just watched THE MAN IN POSSESSION and ONCE MORE, MY DARLING and really enjoyed them. So thank you again! :)

Best wishes,
Laura

PS Have you used Free Movies on DVD before? How were their prints? A couple of their titles tempt me. :)

Thanks much,
Laura

It's a decent film. Bob plays a gangster who becomes a British Earl (in a nutshell). His gangster-Chicago-ee accent is fun. It does have a sad ending though, which I won't spoil here.

I've purchased one film from FMODVD, but it was Letty Lynton, which really doesn't count since the quality is off simply because of it's rarity. I haven't heard any complaints yet regarding them though.

Thanks very much for all the info, Carrie! I appreciate the feedback on the movie and FMODVD. :)

Different topic: Just did a post on FOOTSTEPS IN THE FOG. Many thanks for a great recommendation!

Best wishes,
