It was a quite different pairing from Bob and Joan Crawford, but equally great. Instead of Bob being protected by Joan, Bob got to be the beautiful, young protector to Dorothy. Dorothy quit the movies in 1933, got married, had three children and stayed married to the same man until his death forty years later. Good for her. Just glad she stayed in the movies long enough to co-star with Bob in Love in the Rough and Shipmates. The photos of them are all priceless.

nice: watched this a while back, won't make any top 10 lists, but time watching Robert is never wasted, IMO :) some very funny moments, and Dorothy was fun too, had musical talent. I was surprised to learn she was supposed to be teamed with Fred Astaire but marriage/honeymoon came first. thanks for the pic!
I believe another "got married then dropped out" of Bob fame actress is Irene Purcell of Man in Possession 'fame'.
Irene Purcell was really enjoyable in "Possession", now there's someone who made few few movies, too bad for us, but nice for her, like Jane Bryan, she ended up marrying into big business, if I recall. ooh another picture, going over there now...
Irene was 36 when she co-starred with Bob. Always thought she did a good job of "mentoring" younger Mr. Montgomery in the movie.
'Mentoring' Bob, lol..sorry, I had to laugh thinking literally about the plot line and all :0)
