From a suite at London's Claridge's...of Course!

An interesting article on Bob in the September 19, 1949, issue of Time Magazine.   It is no doubt a stressful time for Mr. Montgomery, trying to find something to do the rest of his working life.  Glad radio news did not work out, and he found success in television.  Great voice, yes, but the entire person is much more preferred.

Three Men and a Lady, From Good to Bad to Elegant

Sometimes a photo will catch my eye, for whatever reason, and provide such enjoyment that I just have to have it ... even if Bob isn't in it!

Just love the big smile on Audrey Totter's face as she reacts to Edward Arnold's attempt to be the big, bad guy.  I don't know much about Mr. Arnold but have read snip-it's here and there of him being a really nice guy.  It's always refreshing to hear about the good guys in the movie business for a change.

I'm including Mr. Beery primarily because I'm on a diet and the sight of him chewing on a whole chicken with plenty of sides to go with it just set me off.  My stomach actually started to growl.  Aargh ... I need to hurry and finish this post before I lose control.

And for a something completely different:  the amazingly elegant Mr. Colman in a fan card from the 1920s.  Goodness.  Perfection.

Tallulah & Bob, a Nice-Looking Duo

Interesting Dutch magazine I hadn't run across before.  The issue is dated February 4, 1933, large size, as indicated by the fold wear mark, titled "The Weekly Magazine of Cinema and Theater".  Really nice colorization for a newspaper printing.

And, inside, a large print of a studio photograph featuring Bob and Tallulah Bankhead in Faithless (1932).  Great print, in such excellent condition for a 91-year-old publication using inexpensive paper.  I also like the pose, with Tallulah's hands on the back of Bob's head but not a hair out of place on his head.

Bob and Harold. Not Bosom Buddies, I'd Imagine

Bob and Harold Lloyd shmoozing at a polo event.

Note that Bob is carrying both his hat and eyeglasses with his left hand.  And the glasses almost disappear positioned in front of the dark hat.  Bob was quite practiced at being fully prepared for any cameraman eager to catch a star in a "candid" moment.

The Annual Picture of Bob in Swim Trunks!

Yesterday was most likely the last day of 100+ temperatures in Beautiful Bakersfield.  It is predicted to top off at only 98 tomorrow ... brrr.

Meanwhile ... it is never too late in the season to use one of the Bob-by-or-in-the-pool photos.  Looking good, young man.
