Quick, Which Navy Bob Is For Real?
Hint: Captain Henry Montgomery, Jr, U.S.N.R.
Do hope you all have wonderful plans for the holiday weekend, and that they all come true. A great time to hug a veteran and say thanks for their service.

Bottom right hand corner. Love the color shot from "The Gallant Hours".
Debbie!!!!! Being as you are a great friend and longtime follower of the blog...you get one more guess.
Love the color one.
And amen on the veterans message!
And the Quick Answer is ... tada ... Bob is both portraying and IS a captain in the U.S.N.R. when he appears as an extra in "The Gallant Hours". I do not know when he actually retired, but he wore his uniform to the White House in 1959 while promoting the movie and he would not have done that if he were no longer in service. Besides, he was just promoted to captain in 1956 and I'm sure he hung around a few years to enjoy the rank!! It does kinda come across as a trick question, sorry 'bout that.
Twas just reminded - Bob had wanted to film "The Gallant Hours" in color, just didn't work out, darn it. Looking at that gorgeous photo of Bob in his navy blues is kind of a tease, a view of what could have been. To think of that opening scene with the camera slowly pulling back to show all those sailors in their navy blues on the steel gray ship with the blue sky behind them ... Would've been breathtaking!
