One of my earliest memories of old movies is watching James Whitmore's Them! with my dad on the late show.
My other two favorite Whitmore roles: The Next Voice You Hear (1950) and The McConnell Story (1955).

I was sad to see this today too.
I was just reading somewhere - James Whitmore, Van Johnson and Ricardo Montalbon, all in "Battleground," dying within a short period of time...odd.
Carrie, I was not conscious of that, very odd indeed.
THEM was also the first movie I remember seeing James Whitmore in. Always loved the man.
Very odd...the Lord works in mysterious ways!
