Bob in a Different Pose

The photo was taken for The Saxon Charm (1948).  There are a number of portraits taken for the movie, but this one stands out.  And it isn't the autograph, although that's always nice to have.  The pose makes you want to know what Bob's character is thinking about.  Perhaps it's the tie, still ugly after all these years ...

Love Those Ever So Blue Eyes

This is the July, 1945 issue of Screen Guide.  Just love the rich colors.

And a full one-page portrait of Mr. Montgomery is featured.  That safari-themed hat was worn a lot between 1945 and 1947.

Love the very blue eyes ... of course.

I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm

Two people fully clothed and wearing their outside attire, standing in front of probably the only source of heat in the house, and not looking at all hot ... ah, life pre-central heating.  I realize this is supposed to be a romantic scene, but I'm shaking a bit looking at the two lovers.  Yeah, I know, their love will keep them warm.  Still, brrrr.

It's More Than Just Labor Day

Today marks the 79th anniversary of V-J Day, the day Imperial Japan surrendered, bringing an end to WWII.  In the photo below Lt. Commander Montgomery is shown backstage at the "V-J Day Command Performance" on Armed Forces Radio talking to Claudette Colbert.

Bob looks incredibly tired.  Four years of wartime military service will do that to one.  I just want to hug him and thank him for his service.
