The artist's signature is Sotero. Haven't discovered anything about him/her, except that I did run across drawings of William Powell and Joan Crawford by the same artist. So, it was probably a promotional campaign of MGM's. Joan's is dated 1938. I so admire the ability to capture a likeness with so few strokes. The rather faint tuxedo collar and tie, Bob's furrowed brow ... nifty.

ReplyDeleteProbably, it's Sotero Cosme, a Brazilian Art Deco illustrator. I saw Myrna Loy's caricature done in this style, too.
