I adore the cast of this 1938 film: Robert Young, Franchot Tone, Robert Taylor, and Margaret Sullavan. Too bad it's the most depressing film I've seen in a while.

Three Comrades was supposed to be F. Scott Fitzgerald's most successfully executed screenplay. Except for a few films in the 1920s, poor Scott was kind of kept on at MGM for prestige - all his screenplays were, in the end, finished up by another writer like Anita Loos.
