I'll add those two movies to my list of films that reused sets.

Your point about the future of movie downloads makes so much sense. I hope that the industry agrees someday. Classic Hollywood movies are such an important part of our modern cultural heritage besides being wonderfully entertaining.

---Barthesian

P.S. I'll have to keep my eyes out for that one.

Maybe with everything going digital these days, they'll put classic movies online to download. It sure would eliminate the overhead & distribution associated w/DVDs, which I think sometimes keeps the industry from making them readily available - Letty Lynton copyrights aside!Carriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17942515417664136914noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24099431.post-82515280313859581722008-03-15T01:10:00.000-05:002008-03-15T01:10:00.000-05:00It's Barthesian again. Did you know that the set for "Notorious" was reused by RKO later in 1946 for a movie called "The Locket"? Unfortunately, the latter film is not available on VHS or DVD. It's supposed to be a really innovative noir, with several flashbacks within flashbacks. Maybe someday someone will decide to release it on the latest super-duper-DVD format. If you're like me, you have a list of films that you would love to see if only the Hollywood powers-that-be would wave their magic wands, movies like "Letty Lynton" and "Laughter in the Dark." ---BarthesianAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24099431.post-3492050213156209582008-03-13T18:34:00.000-05:002008-03-13T18:34:00.000-05:00Hi Barthesian - and thank you! I've always had a thing for looking for repeating elements in films. I should write this down someday - I've spotted some MGM sets that repeat in a number of movies. Just one of those things I guess!Carriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17942515417664136914noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24099431.post-43308064984972721672008-03-12T20:09:00.000-05:002008-03-12T20:09:00.000-05:00Hi, I'm the guy who made "The Recurring Marly Hors...Hi, I'm the guy who made "The Recurring Marly Horses." Thanks so much for showing interest in the project. You've got a great blog.

I've posted several new videos. Your comments inspired me to make one called "Recurring Paintings in Hollywood Movies." It includes shots from Montgomery's "Lady in the Lake."

Cheers,
Barthesian

http://youtube.com/user/barthesianAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24099431.post-18078650172625078192008-03-07T18:08:00.000-06:002008-03-07T18:08:00.000-06:00Good question! Rebecca was Selznick I think, Holiday Columbia and Smith RKO. Then again, who knows how the studios morphed, or if they got props from the same source!Carriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17942515417664136914noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24099431.post-10115983537971727042008-03-06T20:18:00.000-06:002008-03-06T20:18:00.000-06:00That should be, "..and tell you I am glad you post...That should be, "..and tell you I am glad you posted it."la peregrinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10992459469931809488noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24099431.post-73019075454115660222008-03-06T20:17:00.000-06:002008-03-06T20:17:00.000-06:00Went to the YouTube website after watching this th...Went to the YouTube website after watching this the other day and forgot to come back and tell you I glad you posted it.
