Looking for a New Home?

Paula Kent Meehan, 82, died Monday.  Ms. Meehan was the co-founder of Redken - think hair products, salons, etc.  With all the wealth she accrued, she became a noted southern California philanthropist.  Ms. Meehan died at her home in Beverly Hills, which she purchased in 1994.  Sounds like the appropriate kind of person to live in the former Montgomery estate.

Please Lord, let me win the lottery, big time!

I wonder if she was any relation to John Meehan, the screenwriter. He and Bob were friends.

One mortgage is enough. Good find!

Carrie - Wonder if I sold my house, I'd be able to make the first mortgage payment ... probably not.

Debbie - Dreaming of winning the lottery will be the closest we get to buying the estate. Meehan even added on a neighboring lot! Geesch. I'm guessing no relationship. Did a bit of research. Her husband was actually named John as well. And Bob's friend John named his kid John Jr. But Jr. was a writer as well, and husband John was an advertising exec. Got that?! Gettin' late and my mind is a tad hazy. Yes, even more than usual ...

Paula was living in this home since at least the early 70's according to a 1976 People magazine article. In 1994, she just transferred the property into a trust. She also acquired the nearby corner property in 1999 and built new in 2002. http://www.people.com/people/archive/article/0,,20067188,00.html

Np. Your post also helped me with a post I wrote about Meehan. So thanks back to you. I never knew the historical significance of her home. I have a feeling that it will pop up for sale as a result of her passing. If interested, you can read my post here. I have to warn you, its quite lengthy.

Marty - read your post. Nice write-up of an interesting lady. You have a very interesting blog, particularly enjoyed the Cagney ranch and Edward Everett Horton estate articles. Thanks for the info.
