Read all about it in this month's Photoplay!

I've tried to imagine myself in Betty's place after this 1935 Photoplay article came out.  There is the new Beverly Hills mansion, the live-in servants, the mink coats, and so on to console your hurt feelings.   But, be called PLAIN when you have been a stage actress, you hobnob with the cream of society in both the U.S. and England, and you are married to Robert Montgomery, for crying out loud!  Whoa...77 years later and I can feel the pain and anger.

Speaking of Photoplay, the December 1940 issue features an item from the "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" where Carole Lombard provides some career encouragement to Bob's daughter: Also note that the entire run of Photoplay between 1914 and 1940 are available online, and I'm certain there's plenty more Montgomery stuff:

Great info....thanks for sharing! Being in the process of recovering all things lost when my computer died, a personal thanks for providing the link to Carole and Co., a great site. And thanks, too, for the great image in my mind of Bob wearing his "canary-colored pajamas!"
