Programming Alert

Just got a tip via a post here on the blog:

Robert Montgomery will be on The Name's The Same on the Game Show Network on August 4 (really the night of August 3) at 3:30am EST.

And a kind thanks to the tipster!

Anyone recording it? I don't get GSN (but I seem to get everything else...) but would be interested in a copy.

My Two Cents on X

If I may be allowed to jump forward into modern-day entertainment for a minute, I have to put my two cents in for the new X-Files movie. I'm a big X-Files nerd (at one time I had almost all of the episodes recorded onto VHS) so hearing about a new movie made me jump up & down quite literally.

If you're a fan, do go out and see the film & support the show.

This film will never make a ton of bucks - it doesn't have all of the special effects of say Batman, just an actual storyline (gasp!) to pay attention to. And yes, the Mulder/Scully question is answered (you know what I'm talking about).

Henry Montgomery, Sr.: Part Two

A week later...

Henry Montgomery, Sr.

Bob's father, Henry Montgomery, Sr., was able to financially provide well for his family as a president at New York Rubber Company (I've seen both president and vice president noted - not sure if a promotion occurred at one point). In June of 1922, that success came to a halt when Henry Sr. committed suicide by jumping off of the Brooklyn Bridge.

I can't say I've read about suicide in any writing on the Montgomery family. Unless the below New York Times article came about as factually incorrect at a later date, the suicide fact was pretty well covered up during Bob's life. The article is from The New York Times, June 26, 1922.

A bit more info to follow in part two.

Many thanks to Tracy for digging this and many other articles up, which will be showing up on the blog in the near future!

Hot, Hot, Hot

I mean the weather, silly. Summer has hit here in full-swing and blogging has decreased as a direct result! I'm going lazy today with some portrait picspam. On the flip side, fellow fangirl Tracy has been providing a ton of articles & research that I'm sure you won't find on any other Robert Montgomery Web sites. I'll be getting to that in the next weeks. Til then, let the early portrait picspam begin!

A Ruth Harriet Louise portrait. Would love to own one someday.

Rage in Heaven Trailer

IMHO, Bob should have been cast as a killer more often...

Possession Vs. Property

Katie over at Obscure Classics has a good comparison of the different but the same films The Man in Possession and Personal Property.

Hmm, I even see a post about a future podcast featuring Robert Montgomery...

Happy 4th!

Enjoy your holiday weekend and we'll catch ya next week!

Look Through Any Window

I usually stay away writing "now on ebay!" posts, but these window cards are too good to pass up as part of Heritage Auction Gallery's next movie poster auction.
