Dangerous (1935)

Great film, just watched it for the first time last night. And all this time I thought I didn't care for Bette Davis...

Love this movie and Bette. Franchot is so cute too. :)

I'll second that!

The ending sucks. The censors must have gotten to it. I need to do a bit more reading up.

If you ever get a chance, I would love to have your detailed thoughts on this one, because it's possibly one of my least favorite Bettes. And I do love Bette with all my heart. Perhaps it needs another chance as it's probably been more than a decade since I last saw it.

love the "bondage" reference in the trailer ... especially since her oscar for this was supposedly a consolation prize for that one!

I'll be perfectly honest, the only reason I even recorded the film was because Franchot Tone was in it. I haven't seen many Bette films, but the ones I do like always have strong characters around her (All About Eve, Baby Jane). The jury's still out on whether a Bette only film would stand with me.

I thought the weakest part of the film was the introduction of her husband and the crash into the tree. That along with the uber weak ending of her going back to her hubby just left an odd taste in my mouth. I still enjoyed the unique story, but like I mentioned in another comment, it sure looks like there were other powers involved with the ending.

I also found FTs fiancee "wimping" out a big surprise. Personally, you'd have to keep the steak knives away from me in that situation. I wonder if they made her response intentionally weak to make FTs character going with Bette more palatable with the audience. But that certainly didn't matter at the end.
