"B" For Bob

I have to admit, one of the fun things about Robert Young films is that there's a ton of them - he was an MGM "B" actor for a number of years. One interesting blip I read noted Bob's predicament at the studio: "...[Robert Young] once remarked that he was assigned only those roles which Robert Montgomery and other "A-list" actors had rejected."

Great pics of Robert Young. And, that is one of the prettiest shots of Joan Crawford ever!

I recently heard a "Father Knows Best" radio episode, and was surprised at just how good (and funny) it (and he) was. (Aside from Young, the radio and TV casts were entirely different.) Also of note is a 1940 version of "The Awful Truth" Young made with Carole Lombard on the Gulf Screen Guild Theater.

And speaking of Lombard, if you don't mind the plug...check out my blog at http://community.livejournal.com/carole_and_co/

I'll have to see if I can locate that version of "The Awful Truth!" Was just listening to the CG/Dunne radio version the other day.
